ABOUT THE CONVENTION

The convention will be attended by approximately 250 delegates who are senior business people serving on Variety local boards and the Variety International Board, many from the film and entertainment industry, with the majority expected from Australia and the United States. Additionally international and local staff, celebrities and supporters will attend.

This Convention is symbolic in that it will celebrate the 80th birthday of Variety International while looking forward to identify opportunities to better serve the world’s children.

Variety New Zealand’s aim is to host a Convention that will exceed expectations and showcase the very best New Zealand has to offer – we invite you to play a part in this exciting initiative.

Funds raised at the Convention will remain in New Zealand to benefit local children.

Variety International holds an annual conference each year. The Auckland convention will be the 81st Convention and will be held at SKYCITY Convention Centre from the 11-14 May 2008.

Objectives

1. To raise funds to benefit New Zealand children
2. To showcase the very best New Zealand has to offer – cuisine, beverage, entertainment, tourism
   
3. To deliver a Convention which exceeds delegates’ expectations and profiles Variety New Zealand’s community initiatives.

WHO WILL ATTEND

Representatives from all Variety Tents are expected to attend. There are 50 Tents in 14 countries including: Australia, Barbados, Canada, the Channel Islands, France, England, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa and the United States.

Attendees will be:

• CEOs and senior staff from the Variety organisations worldwide
• Major fundraisers and members of Variety
• Prominent business people serving on local Boards and the Variety International Board
• Local and international celebrities

New Zealand hosted the Convention in 1997 with 280 delegates in attendance.
